Will Smith and Chris Rock at The Oscars – What Happened?
Source: Youtube – ENews! Will Smith SLAPS Chris Rock at Oscars 2022
Will Smith appeared to slap Chris Rock at the Oscars after he made an ill-advised joke about his wife Jada Pinkett. The joke was about his wife's alopecia as Chris Rock joked that she was set to make GI Jane 2 next: “Jada I love you, ‘G.I. Jane 2,' can't wait to see it.” Pinkett Smith has been open about her struggle with alopecia, an autoimmune disorder that leads to hair loss, and the joke did not go down well with the audience.
Will Smith rushed on stage where he told Rock to get his wife's name out of his mouth, followed by a slap in the face to which Rock responded: “Oh, wow.”
About 40 minutes after, Will Smith returned to the stage to receive his award for Best Actor where he apologised to the Academy, and other nominees for the incident. Smith said, “I know to do what we do, you gotta be able to take abuse and have people talk people about you. In this business, you gotta have people disrespecting you. And you gotta smile and pretend that's OK.”

What Are the Best Oscars Betting Tips?
We’ve gathered some of the best and most reliable Oscars betting tips and strategies for you to consider before placing a bet on the Academy Awards.
Look at Previous Awards Winners
Looking at the winners of the awards leading up to the Oscars (particularly the , , , and the 🔴) can be a very good predictor for who will win the famous gold statuette in their respective category.
As we mentioned earlier, there are some favourable statistics to prove this – for example, 80% of Best Actor and Best Actress winners at the SAG awards go on to win an Oscar, and only one Best Actor and three Best Actresses who have won an Oscar did not win at least one of the previous ‘big three’ awards.
Biographical Roles Are More Likely to Win
🐬 Actors who play the leading parts in biopics tend to have more of a chance of winning Oscars. The stats don’t lie, with 12 of the last 17 winners of the Best Actor category having portrayed a real person. This does not apply to the Best Actress category, however, with only two winners in this whole decade having won through this particular genre.
Keep Track of Controversy
The time between the nominees being announced and the awards show leaves plenty of time for something to happen. In recent years, the Academy Awards have been plagued with controversy regarding the under-representation of people of colour and the #metoo movement, so really, anything can happen.
Most recently, in 2011, La La Land won many of the Best Picture awards leading up to the Oscars; however, as time went on, it received more of a backlash for being ‘too white.’ Ultimately, against all odds, the films missed out at the 89th Academy Awards to Moonlight – a film heavily featuring people of colour.
Figure Out the Categories
The Oscars aim to celebrate all types of films. For this reason, it is very rare that one film sweeps the board. Most Best Picture films typically do actually win an award at some point throughout the show, so it might work in your favour if you try and figure out which category some films might have more of a chance in༒ – for example, a nominated sci-fi film may have a bigger chance in the Best Cinematography category.
Keep Up With Social Trends
The awards are not only about a person’s skills in the film industry, but also about their celebrity profile as a whole. Actors involved in scandals will have less chance of winning an Oscar.
♍ Social trends relating to current issues are important to follow as if an actor is perceived as being very liked. For instance, someone who constantly fights for the rights of the less fortunate might have their chances of winning greatly enhanced.
Follow the Latest Gossip
Although mostly speculation, crucial insider information can sometimes leak to the press about potential winners and losers. Even the smallest bits of information might be enough to give you a stronger and more reliable indication of who is likely to win. Read these papers with cautionౠ, however, as not every source will be a reliable source.
Consider the Smaller Markets
Whilst the spotlight typically shines on the more popular awards categories, it is the smaller, less popular ones which can have higher chances of being mispriced by bookmakers. Be alert to these markets so that you can take advantage of any underestimations from betting sites and increase your chances of maximising your winnings.
Take Your Time Before Placing Bets
The winners of the Oscars are decided quite some time in advance of the ceremony. For this reason, we suggest waiting as late as possible to place your bets.
✃ This is because the more time that passes, the greater chance there will be of some information being released that could prove to be invaluable for your wager, as we previously touched upon abive.

History of the Oscars
The Academy Awards are the culmination of film industry awards season where golden statuettes, affectionately referred to as ‘Oscars', are awarded to the top performers of the year by the .
The origin of the name ‘Oscar’ is disputed, but the trophies made their first appearance during the first ceremony way back in 1929. What first started off as a 15-minute event handing out 15 awards has developed into a mega-production broadcast to 225 countries around the world, ❀and one of the highlights in many people’s calendar.
Films can be nominated if they were theatrically screened throughout the whole of the previous year. Some films – such as Netflix feature productions like 2019's The Irishmanꦜ – go around this by providing limiting screening in select theatres in New York and Los Angeles.
Many punters enjoy betting on awards shows like the Academy Awards because unlike most sports, the Oscars do not have a wide range of variables that can affect the results up until the end. It is not a case where nobody knows what is going to happen and luck plays a big part – like in a game of sports. The winners of the Academy Awards are decided in advance,⭕ which gives bettors plenty of time to make an accurate and informed decision with confidence.
With this said, it is important to keep in mind that that it is a panel of judges who decide the winners of each award, and therefore the subjectivity of the panel may lead to some surprising results which can prove to be frustrating for some bettors. The fixed nature of the awards means that odds will usually remain relatively unchanged until awards night🦹 – unless a major scandal gets in the way, of course!
🐻 While the 2020 Academy Awards went ahead as normal due to taking place before the pandemic broke out worldwide, the 2021 ceremony was delayed by three months and included social distancing measures for the safety of all involved.
