🍒 This is a fairly common and understandable question. Many people wonder how it’s possible to bet on an event with a predetermined outcome. The truth is, the scripts and results of a WWE event are kept under wraps, and so bookies and punters won’t know what’s going to happen until it actually happens.

Thanks to the secrecy kept by the wrestling brands as well as all the actors involved, it’s possible for punters to bet on WWE in the same way that you can bet on sports on the best tennis, basketball and football betting sites.

Of course, because of the risk of insider information being spread, bookies do take precautions to minimise risk. Low maximum limits are set for WWE betting and odds may not be particularly large or high, respectively. It may be slightly tougher, but with the right amount of research and planning, there’s still plenty of value and decent profit to be made.

Arguably one of the most thrilling and exciting WWE wrestling events of the year, the Royal Rumble is absolutely iconic. Taking place on January 28th, 2023🧔, and held every year for the past 30 years, the Royal Rumble is truly a flagship event in the professional wrestling scene.

Here, a group of wrestlers, often at the peak of their powers, face each other in a battle-royale style match with, usually, 30 fighters all in the ring simultaneously. Wrestlers are eliminated once they are hurled over the top rope, with both feet touching the floor outside the ring. The winner is awarded with a spot in the blockbuster WrestleMania main event.

This year’s match card is set to be a banger, with four massive events taking place on the night. These are the Male and Female Royal Rumbles, as well as the Mountain Dew Pitch Black Match and the single match for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

♏ Renowned for its show-stopping action, this beloved extravaganza is one of WWE’s most popular for viewers and punters alike. It has delivered some of WWE’s most unforgettable moments in history, and the 2023 edition promises to be just as extraordinary. It’s a really intriguing event to bet on – seeing the wrestler you’ve backed being flung around the ring is nail-biting, to say the least!

The 30-man battle royale𝄹 is the most iconic match in the Royal Rumble, being the main event on the night almost every year, barring a few exceptions. This year could see yet another great fight taking place on the night.

ꦯ So far, only a handful of wrestlers have been confirmed in the build-up to the Rumble. However, this hasn’t stopped bookies from creating odds for a large pool of players, even those whose names have not been announced yet. The list below shows the confirmed fighters as of January 11th 2023.

🉐 Bear in mind that while betting now could give you better odds, it’s risky, as you can’t be certain that a player will join the lineup until they have officially been confirmed.

Just like the men’s Royal Rumble, the female version pits all the best female wrestlers in another battle royale, with 30 fighters taking the ring. This year, the winner will have the choice to fight the current women’s champion of either SmackDown or Raw during WrestleMania 39.

So far, only a few wrestlers have been announced for the upcoming event – these are shown below in the table. Bookies have still prepared odds for other fighters, but as we said above, betting on candidates who haven't been confirmed yet isn’t always the safest option.

In what promises to be a memorable matchup, LA Knight will face Bray Wyatt in the upcoming Royal Rumble 2023ඣ. Both wrestlers have had long careers within professional wrestling, both with WWE and with various other organisations.

🌃 What makes this particular match card special is its secrecy. At the time of writing, almost nothing is known about the what the match entails. Another intriguing aspect is that the two fighters have stated that they don’t know what’s going to happen either.

That being said, WWE did post a clip to their Twitter account on January 7th during which the LA Knight exclaims: “When the lights go down, Bray Wyatt’s lights go out,”ܫ possibly alluding to a match in pitch-black darkness:

Mountain Dew Pitch Black Match Odds

✤ While the LA Knight has been the most vocal of the two, it's hard to see him overcoming the might of Bray Wyatt on the night. The bookies seem to agree on this one, with Wyatt being favourite.

Possibly an even bigger spectacle than the 30-man Royal Rumble, this single match pits the current world champion of both SmackDown and Raw against Kevin Owens,𝓀 who previously held the title of WWE Universal Champion in 2016.

The match is another chance for Roman Reigns to defend his Undisputed titlesღ and an opportunity for Owens to climb his way back to the top. While a single match is the simplest format in WWE, twists and turns are almost a given with professional wrestling, so who knows what could happen.

𒀰 The Tribal Chief is being tipped to retain his crown, one which he’s held since May 2022, and which he'll have to defend for the fourth time.

Number 1 – John Cena’s Return

The best moment of 2022 in our eyes was John Cena’s unexpected 2022 return to the WWE, which meant that he’d hold on to his 20-year streak of being involved in at least one match every year. Cena was invited by Kevin Owens to team up against Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn in a tag team match on the final SmackDown of the year on December 30th. Owens and Cena emerged victorious over the Tribal Chief and The Honorary Uce, completing a double five-knuckle shuffleꦑ leading to a pin on Zayn by Owens. A great return for one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time.

Number 2 – Reigns vs Paul Crown Jewel

The main event on the Crown Jewel roster, Roman Reigns successfully defended his crown against YouTube star and WWE sensation Logan Paulꩲ. The fight was full of twists, including a confrontation between The Usos and Logan Paul’s brother Jake Paul. Hailed by many as a stunning match thanks to the exceptional talents of both Reigns and Paul, it was further praised when it was revealed that Paul tore his meniscus halfway through the fight. The ending was inevitable, with The Tribal Chief implementing his signature superman punch and spear winning the match.

Number 3 – Charlette Flair vs Ronda Rousey Saga

A rivalry for the ages, Charlette Flair’s feud with Ronda Rousey came to a head during the 2022 WrestleMania Backlash. In a brutal ‘I Quit’ single match, Ronda Rousey emerged victorious over Flair with an arm bar through a chair, breaking Flair’s arm in the process. On the final SmackDown of 2022♉, as Ronda Rousey began to celebrate her title defense against Raquel Rodriguez, Charlette made a surprise return after her arm injury to challenge Rousey. Rousey accepted, although fatigued from the previous fight. Flair won back the title by pinfall, becoming SmackDown Women’s Champion once again.

Number 4 – Brock Lesner Royal Rumble

Royal Rumble 2022 was another classic in the great history of the event. With 30 great wrestlers entering the stage, only one man could leave as champion: Brock Lesner. Throughout the bout there were many notable inclusions, mainly the appearances of Johnny Knoxville in the No. 9 position, and famous rapper Bad Bunny entering as No.27. Brock Lesner was the biggest surprise of all, entering as No. 30 and cleaning up the competition. Lesner broke several WWE records in the process, including spending the least amount of time in a Royal Rumble match, winning in just 2 minutes and 30 seconds, as well as having the longest gap between Royal Rumble wins – 19 years, having won in 2003 and 2022. Brock is also the fourth wrestler to win as the 30th player.

Number 5 – The Undertaker Becomes a Hall of Famer

Rounding up our top 5 is a moment which will fill any WWE fans with nostalgia: the well-deserved recognition and induction of The Undertaker into the Hall of Fame. Arguably one of the most iconic wrestlers of all time, The Undertaker made his professional debut in 1990, retiring in November 2020. He left behind a 30-year stint, which is the longest stretch by any wrestler ever. Having won it all while enjoying an amazingly prolific career, the Undertaker joins other WWE Hall of Famers including Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and The Ultimate Warrior as one of the greatest ever.

The WWE calendar is never short of entertainment. Weekly shows of RAW, NXT and Smackdown🌜 take place on a regular basis, although you won’t always find betting markets for these events.

What you will find WWE betting markets on are the pay-per-view (PPV)🍰 shows, since these garner loads of attention from all across the world. Here are the top WWE events to bet on:

WrestleMania – March/April

Widely considered to the be the pinnacle of the WWE schedule, WrestleMania is packed with standout matchups, including a Championship match featuring the latest Royal Rumble winner. With so many matches to choose from, this event provides great opportunity to place a WWE betting accumulator. It is the longest-running professional wrestling event in history, and typically takes place between mid-March and mid-April.

SummerSlam – August

Dubbed as “The Biggest Party of the Summer”, SummerSlam is regarded as the biggest PPV of the year after Wrestlemania. It delivers a series of epic showdowns𒐪 between fighters from both the Raw and Smackdown brands in the month of August.

Money in the Bank – May/June

The WWE Money in the Bank PPV centres around the men’s and women’s ladder matches🐬. Fighters compete to be the first to snatch a briefcase hanging high in the air containing a contract for a championship match. The winner is guaranteed a future world title shot, which they can cash in on within a year of claiming it in May or June.

Crown Jewel – November

One of the more recent inclusions to the WWE roster, the Crown Jewel൩ is the biggest wrestling event in the Arabian Gulf, specifically taking place in Saudi Arabia. Matches are different every year, making it an unpredictable contest.

Survivor Series – November

Taking place every November, Survivor Series is based around tag-team elimination matches between Raw and Smackdown stars🎃. Unlike other events, punters bet on teams (Smackdown or Raw) rather than individuals, with each team typically having four or five wrestlers. Teams fight it out to determine which brand has earned bragging rights, making for compelling viewing.

TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs – Differs

A variation of the ladder match, the TLC event throws a further two weapons into the mix: tables and chairs. These matches are notorious for the high physical demands and nasty injuries that participants have to contend with, but we have to admit – it’s great entertainment. Unlike the PPV events, TLC matches don't take place during the same month every year – it differs.

The fun doesn’t end there though! Other notable events include Hell in a Cell, King of the Ring, the Elimination Chamber and Clash of Champions, ꦡwhich are all great spectacles to watch and punt on.

When it comes to WWE betting markets, most bookies aren’t going to offer you the extensive range of options that you’ll find for other sports. WWE betting is still very much in its infancy, and as a result, most bookies will only offer straightforward markets, such as “Men’s Royal Rumble Winner”.

If you’re looking for more prop bets, bookies like 888sport are excellent choices. On these sites, you’ll be able to wager on the finer details, such as:

𝄹 There are always things you can do to raise your betting game. While WWE might be different to other sports in the fact that it’s scripted, this doesn’t mean less strategy is required to land profits. The difference lies in how punters approach the betting process.

𝄹 Using statistics to identify the different strengths and weaknesses between wrestlers isn’t going to help you like it would in other sports. With WWE, curveballs can be thrown at any moment, and anything is possible.

A key point to consider, though, is that producers are always looking to make the storylines exciting and engaging, and the key to success is predicting how that might be done. Following narratives and picking up on trends and patterns in the storytelling༺ is a smart way to envision what will happen next.

Furthermore, doing research on what’s going on behind the scenesꦿ could provide crucial info on WWE’s storyline. For example, is there a contract dispute taking place with a specific wrestler? Might their time with the WWE be coming to a close? This could drop huge hints on how the story will unfold.

WWE betting adds an extra layer of excitement to a sport that already has plenty, thanks to a combination of jaw-dropping entertainment with unbelievable displays of athleticism. The maxim “information is power”♋ rings truer than ever here, and punters should look out for key patterns and trends, as well as behind-the-scenes knowledge on wrestlers, to improve their chances of winning. Above all else, though, our final piece of advice would be: enjoy yourself!

All things considered, Paddy Power and Betfair offer the best WWE betting experience.

ꦿThe Royal Rumble will take place on January 28th, 2023.

Yes – we've listed the latest Royal Rumble odds above.

Most bookies that offer WWE betting will only provide markets on the match or tournament winner, but on some bookies – like Paddy Power🌃 – more prop bets are available, including Method of Victory, Time of Victory, appearance bets, and elimination bets.
